Directions to the Swannanoa Library

  • Travel I-40 East from Asheville, NC
  • Take Exit 59 (Swannanoa Exit)
  • Turn left at stop sign at end of ramp (Patton Cove Rd)
  • Proceed a couple of hundred yards to traffic light (Gas station across intersection)
  • Turn right (onto "new" Hwy 70)
  • Proceed to next traffic light
  • Turn left, go across bridge to yield sign
  • Turn right (onto "old" Hwy 70)
  • Proceed 3 or 4 tenths of a mile
  • Turn left onto Grovemont Ave. (Just past Texaco F&J convenience store on left)
  • Proceed 3 or 4 tenths of a mile, and you will come to Grovemont Square (grass field w/rock wall)
  • Library is at the opposite end of the Square - go around Square to the right
  • You have arrived! Library is red brick building adjacent to the playground

YEAR ROUND BOOK SALE
Please visit us at our year-round book sale in the basement of the Swannanoa Library. We have a great selection of books for all ages and interests, including hundreds of fiction hardcovers and paperbacks, and over 40 categories of non-fiction books.The book sale is open during regular library hours. Be sure to come by often - we stock new books on our shelves on a regular basis.


Most books, including hardcovers, are priced at $1.00 or less.
Book donations are welcome at any time.

Who We Are
The mission of the Friends of the Swannanoa Library is to increase awareness, use, and enjoyment of the Swannanoa Library and its surrounding park and playground facilities as a means of strengthening the community of Swannanoa. In support of this mission, the Friends will:

  • organize events and programs that draw the community to the library;
  • assist with improvement and maintenance of library facilities;
  • support the library staff;
  • partner with organizations and individuals in the community;
  • promote traditional and technological literacy;
  • raise funds; and advocate for the library at the local and state level.
